Chip
Smith is the Athletic Director of the Atlanta Athletic
Club and Founder and President of Competitive Edge
Sports.
Chip is recognized as one of the foremost speed
and strength experts in the United States. Chip
holds a BS in exercise. He did post-graduate work
in speed and strength at the world-renowned Soviet
Sports Institute. In 1990, he was named Head Coach
of the United States Powerlifting Team, which competed
against the Soviet and Bulgarian teams. He also
spent three years as the Speed Coach with Phil
Niekro's Silver Bullets.
Chip has trained over 200 current NFL players and
does combine preparation for scores of players selected
each year in the NFL Draft.
Chip has also co-directed Duke University's All
sport Speed and Strength Camp. He is a long time
member of the American College of Sports Medicine,
National Strength and Conditioning Association, NFL
Alumni Association, and trainer to many current NFL,
NBA and MLB stars.
He is an accomplished athlete in his own right.
Chip was a former collegiate two-sport athlete, playing
football and baseball. He was voted MVP four times
in football and, after 25 years, still holds numerous
university rushing and scoring records.
